Xavier Pladellorens and Ángel Corcuera founded Deporvillage in 2010, building it into a leading Spanish online retailer specializing in sportswear and cycling equipment thanks to their e-commerce model.

The company had significant growth reaching €160 million in revenue and 2.5 million customers by 2021. The company attracted several notable investors fueling it's rapid growth. In June 2021, JD Sports acquired 80% of it and later took 98% ownership - after which Xavier & Ángel departed.

Looking back, Xavier shares the full story of then and now. Joining him for this candid conversation is moderator Alexandra Maratchi, founder of Homuork, a company she also led to a successful exit. With her shared experience, Alexandra brings a unique founder-to-founder perspective, ensuring this is not just an interview but a deep dialogue about the realities of building, selling, and letting go of a company.

  • What led to the sale of Deporvillage, and how did it unfold?
  • What's changed post-exit & why did performance drop?

  • What would Xavier do differently if he could do it all again?

If you're a founder, investor, or curious mind navigating startup life, this conversation will offer lessons rarely shared publicly.

This is not a success story - it’s the full story.
