Welcome to the Fixathon at Impact/Week
Norrsken House Barcelona
October 13th - 15th

The world has climate plans. Let’s use AI to turn them into action.

Join us starting on October 13 at Norrsken House Barcelona for a 24-hour Fixathon, hosted during this year’s Impact/Week.

Countries have committed to the Paris Agreement, but commitments alone do not move fast enough. That is why we are bringing together 50 curious builders to fix what's missing, and turn ideas into reality in just 24 hours.

There is probably no better place to do this than Impact/Week, Norrsken's two-day flagship conference gathering the world's foremost founders, funders, thinkers and doers accelerating solutions for people and planet.

Only 50 spots available. Here's a sneak peek of what's in it for you:

  • Full access to Norrsken Impact/Week
  • Budget support for travel and accommodation expenses
  • Selected teams get the chance to pitch their solutions on October 15
  • Activities and networking opportunities beyond the 24 hours

Applications will close August 3, 2026. Spots are filled on a rolling basis, so don't wait to apply. Selected participants will hear back by mid/late August at the latest and more details on the agenda and challenge will be shared closer to the event. Check out the Q&A at the end of the page and apply as a team or individually.

Seats are limited. Possibilities not. See you in Barcelona.

P.S. This Fixathon is open to anyone, but please only apply if you can be in Barcelona October 13–15, as this is an in-person event with activities beyond the 24 hours.

Fixathon FAQs

What Is a Fixathon & How Does It Work?

A Fixathon is like a hackathon, but focused on solving real-world challenges that desperately need fixing. In 24 hours, participants collaborate in teams to turn ideas into applicable solutions or working prototypes, using AI and open tools. Explore previous solutions here: www.norrsken.org/promptwhatmatters

This Fixathon takes place at Norrsken House Barcelona before and during Norrsken Impact/Week, from October 13-15. Participants will kick off the Fixathon in the afternoon on October 13, spend 24 hours developing their solutions, and wrap up the event together in the evening of October 14. On October 15, participants can explore Impact/Week and a few selected teams will have the opportunity to present their solutions during a live demo. The full agenda and activities will be shared with selected participants closer to the event. Please be aware that everything will be in person, so make sure to block your calendar from October 13 through October 15.

What Is Norrsken Impact/Week?

Impact/Week is Norrsken's two-day flagship conference happening October 14–15, 2026, at Norrsken House Barcelona. It gathers a carefully curated audience of the world's foremost founders, funders, thinkers, and doers accelerating solutions for people and planet. Learn more and get a sneak peek of the agenda here: https://www.norrsken.org/impactweek

What Challenge Will We Work On?

The Fixathon will focus on a climate-related challenge, centered specifically around the Paris Agreement. We'll provide the challenge brief, along with more details, data, and guidelines, to selected participants closer to the event. Please note that you and your team will have to come up with your own original idea or solution to tackle it within the 24 hours.

Who Can Apply?

Anyone passionate about solving meaningful problems is welcome to apply (as long as you are 18+ years old).

You can apply individually or together as a group. Please note that everyone must send in their own application, even if applying as a team. If you apply alone or as a team of two, we will match you with additional participants to complete your team. Teams will consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 people.

Do I Need Coding Skills?

No previous hackathon experience is required, and coding skills are not mandatory. However, having coding experience can be an advantage.

Is There an Age Limit?

Yes, participants must be at least 18 years old. Please don't apply if you're under 18. We'll verify IDs both during the application process and on-site at the event.

What Is the Application Process & Deadline?

Applications are open now and will close in early August. We're accepting applicants on a rolling basis, so spots are filled first come, first served. Apply early, as there's no guarantee a spot will still be available if you wait. We are doing our best to review all applications, but please bear with us if this takes some time. Every selected participant will receive a heads-up by mid/late August at the latest, after applications close, so there's still enough time to book your flights, accommodation, etc.

What Makes a Great Team & Team Matching?

The best teams combine different skills and perspectives. Diversity in backgrounds, thinking, and experience helps unlock stronger ideas and more impactful solutions.

We carefully review all applications and primarily match teams based on complementary skills, ensuring that every team has a strong mix of people and perspectives. Team matching happens once we've confirmed all participants for the event. We're aiming to inform you about your team by mid/end of August, giving everyone enough time to connect in advance, and optionally coordinate accommodation together if you'd like.

What Do Participants Get (Perks & Budget)?

In addition to the Fixathon program and activities, all participants will receive full access to Norrsken Impact/Week, including its events and networking opportunities. A few selected teams will also be invited to present their solutions in a live demo on October 15. The rest remains a secret for now.

If you're traveling from outside Barcelona, we'll reimburse your travel and accommodation costs up to a fixed amount of €400, based on receipts and actual expenses incurred. You're responsible for booking your own flights/trains and accommodation in Barcelona. Reimbursement will only be processed after the Fixathon, and only for participants who attend the entire event and submit valid receipts. More details will be shared with selected participants closer to the event.

Where Should I Stay in Barcelona?

We'll provide a guide on traveling to Barcelona for all chosen participants in August. This will include recommendations for accommodation as well as things to do (and avoid) during your stay. We're happy to share suggestions, but you'll be responsible for booking and coordinating your own travel and accommodation.

What About Insurance?

You are responsible for your own health and travel insurance. Norrsken and the Fixathon organizers do not provide insurance for participants to, from, and during their trip in Barcelona, so please make sure you're covered before you travel.

How Do I Know If I Got Selected?

You'll receive an email from us confirming whether you've secured a spot. From there, we'll stay in touch with next steps and more details about team matching, the schedule, logistics, and practical information ahead of the event.
